Works For Me: BACKWARDS Edition (Koi Ponds)

September 3, 2008 at 1:42 pm 1 comment

After discussing it for about a week, we decided to go down to the Koi place in the city this weekend. We want a koi pond out front, but even after having all of the information, we really don’t know where to start. Does anyone have links or information about koi ponds? We have a lot of room, and want something pretty big but that’s affordable. I hope someone knows m

ore than what we do now and can help with more information

A few years ago we moved into a house that has a backyard pond. There were koi and goldfish in it at the time. Since then, all the big fish have been taken by a nearby hawk. I have watched it sit on my fence and pull a fish apart. We’ve also had blue herons stop buy. Now we have small goldfish and enjoy them.

Our pond was old and in need of repain so we paid to have it redone and a waterfall put in. My husband is a die hard do-it-yourselfer, but we were clueless in this area so we bit the bullet and had professionals do it. They did a great job and we really enjoy it. Just don’t invest a lot of money in fish if you think there are predators around.
